There are many factors that can contribute to an individual being more vulnerable to abuse. Some of these include being raised in a chaotic or abusive home environment, being physically or emotionally neglected as a child, having low self-esteem, and/or being isolated from friends and family. Additionally, individuals who have been previously abused are more likely to be abused again.

If you are experiencing abuse of any kind, it is important to reach out for help. There are many resources available both online and offline, and there is no shame in seeking assistance. This means that even when there are positive aspects of your relationship (such as love and support), your brain can trigger anxiety and fear due to your past experiences. If you find yourself constantly experiencing negative thoughts during your relationship, it is important that you reach out for help.

Knowing what you deserve in a relationship can give you the strength to ask for more from your partner if you are not receiving it. If they are unwilling to treat you with respect and care, it is important that you end the relationship.
