Task Summary

Students will be required to use the World Health Organisation (WHO) Global Health Observatory (GHO https://www.who.int/data/gho) to identify one major current global public health issue that has data available on the GHO.

The topic should be current and relevant to the material covered in this module.

The task is to put together a 15-minute (should be 15 minutes exactly or just under 13/14 minutes minimum) pitch in the form of a PowerPoint Narrated Pitch Presentation for a government or policy official of any country of choice.

The main goal of the pitch will be to advocate for the public health issue in convince the government official to act e.g., with a public health initiative or policy change.

The presentation must include:

  1. What the issue is that needs to be addressed and some background information.
  2. Why it is important to address this issue and why now.
  3. A data component where some data collected from the WHO GHO is used – e.g., a graph and at least one statistical test.
  4. What could be done to tackle the issue e.g., propose a public health initiative and/or policy change.
  5. Challenges the government official may encounter and how these can be overcome. Including project management techniques that may support and any potential issues, any wider challenges of utilising digital health tools as a communication method, and the benefits of this method.
  6. Presentation of project plan.
  7. Written transcript of your presentation (this can be added to an end slide).

NOTE: Your presentation should not exceed 15 minutes of audio recording, or this could cause submission error issues.

Assignment instructions

Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline (Use Arden University Cover page template for Powerpoint) PowerPoint) and a reference list referencing section for more information).

You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed.

Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out in the Marking Matrix and in the Student Guide to mark your assessment.

You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.

Maximum word count: No maximum word count, limit for presentation: it should be 15 minutes exactly or just under 13-14 minutes minimum.

For this task, you must produce and submit a Power point presentation/. PPT file. No other format (. docs or .mp4 or .pdf) will be acceptable and will be penalised.

Formative Feedback:

You have the opportunity to submit a draft of your PPT presentation to receive formative feedback.

The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work, and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner.

If you are a distance learning student, you should submit your work, by email, to your tutor, no later than 2 weeks before the actual submission deadline.

If you are a blended learning student, your tutor will give you a deadline for formative feedback and further details.

Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date or the date specified by your tutor – if a blended learning student.

Submission Guidance

Assignments submitted late will not be accepted and will be marked as a 0% fail.

Your assessment must be submitted as a single PowerPoint File.

Please do not submit multiple files (e.g. 1 powerpoint fie and one audio/mp4 file for the recording or one word document with the transcription)

If you wish to overwrite your submission or one of your submissions (before the submission deadline), you must ensure that your new submission is named exactly the same as the previous in order for the system to overwrite it.

You must ensure that the submitted assignment is all your own work and that all sources used are correctly attributed.
