| What is the module about? | The dissertation provides the student with an opportunity to investigate any aspect of Christian theology and its application in the context of Christian ministry or practice. The relevant fields of study include exegetical, theological, socio-ethical, pastoral, missiological and/or historical issues. The dissertation proposal must conform to the programme aims and learning outcomes, whilst also reflecting the student’s personal and/or professional interests The dissertation is based upon guided, but largely independent, research. Research methodology forms part of supervision and of the submitted dissertation on the approved topic. |
Learning and Teaching
| How will I learn? | The supervisor should advise the student in the choice of a research topic, appropriate methodology and structure, as well as providing guidance in the preparation and writing of the thesis. Supervisors should also offer specific guidance to students in relation to research projects where ethical approval is required. During the supervision process the supervisor may offer an assessment of the quality and relevance of the developing bibliography, the academic style of the content, and the suitability of the chosen structure. Supervision may be provided through face-to-face encounters or electronic means as available and appropriate. |
