Your report will also examine how effective policies, strategies and interventions can address health inequalities and improve health outcomes for individuals, communities and wider society.
Assignment Structure
It is important that your report has a clear introduction, main body, and conclusion. Consider the ‘rule of three’ structure: Say what you are going to say. Say it. Summarise what you have said.
Introduction: Includes context and aim of the report. Identify the topics for discussion, including the order in which these will be discussed for your reader.
Main Body: Consider using individual themes to structure each paragraph and put forward the reasons that support your discussion.
Conclusion: Summarise several key points from the main body of your report. Remind the reader of the main points that you have discussed.
Task Words
Discuss: Investigate or examine by argument. Give reasons for and against. Examine the implications.
Explain: Make clear why something happens or is the way it is. Interpret and account for. Give reasons for.
Examine: Look closely at something. Consider and discuss it in detail and question it where appropriate.
General Assignment Guidance
| Teamwork and Its Assessment | Should this assignment require you to work as part of a team, you will receive an individual grade based upon your performance as well as personalised feedback. The module leader will explain how your individual grade and feedback will be determined. |
| Importance of Word Count and Presentation Timings | Assignment word counts and presentation timings should always be observed. Ignoring a word count increases significantly the risk of your work losing marks because it lacked structure, flow, focus and clarity. Timings must be observed for assessed presentations for the same reasons. |
