Aim This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of the legislation and practice requirements relating to all aspects of mental capacity and how this applies to their setting/service.

Learners will consider assessment of risk and the role they have in upholding the rights of individuals to make valid choices.

The unit asks learners to consider implications for individuals and others in restricting freedom of choice and movement and their own role in ensuring that both legal and ethical requirements are met.

Learners will explore their own learning needs and those of the team in respect of mental capacity and restrictive practices.
