Coursework 1 -Poster Proposal for a Case Study (30%)

Assignment task

Based on the topic of stakeholders in aviation security management and either on your current role or a previous one within an environment with which you are familiar, you are to propose a case study within which you evaluate issues related to stakeholder theories and their specific applicability to aviation security operations. This means that the work will discuss and analyse the application of these theories in the context of aviation security.

This assignment is a 1,000-words proposal which is presented as an academic poster.

Coursework 1 and Coursework 2 are interdependent and therefore:

• CW1 will propose the topic of the submission for Coursework 2 and it will outline and reference the secondary research,
• Learners are not to conduct primary research; and
• Learners are to consider the Learning Outcomes of CW2, as explained therein, to inform their decision of the subject they choose for the report.

The poster proposal should include the following:

1. An introduction to the subject of the case study within which a background and an explanation of the rationale are presented. This will include the reasons why you feel that this subject is important, its potential outputs and recommendations and its wider value.
2. The poster should provide an outline of the content of the case study.  The elements of an academic proposal must be clearly presented. This should form the main bulk of this assignment. Since primary research is not allowed for this paper, the proposal elements will only include the secondary research approach.
3. A summarising conclusion to the proposal indicating what the paper has presented.

Coursework 2 – Case Study Analysis (70%)

Assignment task

Based either on your current role or a previous one within an environment with which you are familiar and based on the topic of stakeholders in aviation security management which you have proposed in CW1, you are to produce a 3000- word case study.  The case study is to analyse the concepts of competition and primacy of organisations that may impact aviation security operations, in addition to the key and critical activities of range of stakeholders and agencies or sub-groups.

Coursework 1 and Coursework 2 are interdependent and therefore:

1. CW1 will have proposed the topic of the submission for CW2; and
2. CW2 is the actual study of the proposed topic in CW1.
3. Learners are not to conduct primary research.

The case study should include the following:

1. An introduction
2. Detail of the competition and primacy of organisations in the aviation security industry, including an analysis of failures and their impact to agencies or sub-groups.
3. Analysis of the activities of stakeholders and agencies and their effectiveness or otherwise.
4. The formulation of a summary and conclusion that demonstrate the synthesis of available information and its relationship with theory and behavioural models.
5. The resultant work should be a focused, directed and clear document that offers convincing and well researched analysis and argument.
