You have recently been appointed as a Junior Business Consultant at NextWave Consulting, a progressive UK-based business advisory firm that specialises in helping organisations improve their leadership capability, team performance, and internal culture. The company provides tailored leadership and management consultancy services to a diverse client base, across sectors, including retail, non-profits, and the public sector, offering tailored consultancy, training, and strategic planning support. Known for its practical, evidence-based approach, NextWave helps clients bridge the gap between theory and practice by translating academic models into actionable strategies that drive real organisational impact.

As a Junior Consultant, your responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research into leadership and management theories and applying them to different organisational contexts.

MetroMax is experiencing challenges with staff morale, inconsistent decision-making across departments, and a growing disconnect between the leadership and frontline teams. Their executive team has asked for insights into how leadership style and organisational culture affect day-to-day decision-making and team performance.

Task 2: Presentation – Impact of Leadership and Culture- Leadership Styles and Organisational Culture: How They Influence Decisions and Performance”

Create and deliver a professional presentation outlining different leadership and management styles, how these influence organisational culture, and the impact this has on decision-making and business performance. Your presentation will be shown at their upcoming team leader development seminar. Your presentation should explore various leadership and management styles across different organisations, analysing the factors that influence organisational culture. It should compare how these styles affect decision-making processes and assess the significance of organisational culture in driving performance

Client C: Public-Sector Organisation – “CivicWorks UK”

CivicWorks is a large, regional council-run organisation under pressure to improve efficiency, transparency, and employee engagement. The Chief Executive is particularly interested in how leadership and management theory can be used to drive effectiveness at scale.

Task 3: Briefing Paper – Organisational Effectiveness

Write a structured 800-1000 words internal briefing paper for CivicWorks’ leadership team that analyses how the application of selected leadership and management theories can enhance the overall effectiveness of a large organisation. The paper should be concise, well-structured, and supported with real-world examples
