You have been asked to write an internal newsletter for staff in your housing association which gives them an update on housing policy: CIH L4 Certificate in Housing Practice Assignment, UK
Subject | CIH L4 Certificate in Housing Practice |
Unit Name: Housing Policy
Assessment task:
You have been asked to write an internal newsletter for staff in your housing association which gives them an update on housing policy. The newsletter should include the following:
1). Setting the context – give a brief summary of the historical development of housing policy in the UK since the 1980s, including an update on recent housing policy since 2016 (2016 Housing and Planning Act, the 2018 Homelessness Reduction Act, housing policies during Covid-19). This should include identifying the key drivers and participants in the policy making process (AC 1.1, 1.2 and 2.1) and how these have shaped housing policy (AC 1.3) (1000 words).
2). Identify the key housing problems/issues in your local area and how these have impacted on different social groups in terms of income, ethnicity, gender and disability (for example, this might include the numbers of homeless people and people housed in temporary accommodation, the number on the housing waiting list, the costs of renting in the PRS). Identify how you would find out about these issues (which sources of data and information your organisation might use) and how this information should shape policy in your housing association. (1000 words) (AC 1.4 and 3.1)
3). Evaluate the impact of at least one housing policy on your local area and highlight how policies vary at local level (AC 3.1. and 3.2)
