PBS7000J Capstone Project Final Assessment 2026 | University of Plymouth
| University | University of Plymouth(UoP) |
| Subject | PBS7000J Capstone Project |
PBS7000J Module Overview
Welcome to the PBS7000J Capstone Project Module where you will independently select, research and analyse a significant managerial decision based on a problem or an opportunity or issue.
The Project is the final assessed piece of work of the Master’s Programme. It focuses on the investigation of a real management situation, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to use the knowledge and skills acquired through the taught elements of the course in context.
During your study, a range of lectures and workshops will be organised to support your understanding of the research process and facilitate your achievement of the intended learning outcomes of this module.
You will also be given an individual meeting with a research advisor to help you with your initial ideas and you will subsequently be allocated a research supervisor once you have completed a research proposal. However, this module requires initiative and independent study. You should take responsibility for the management and direction of the research and understand that the supervisors are only there to provide support and guidance.
The Project module is the vehicle through which you, as a master’s level student, can show that you are able to work at a level defined by a University’s level M-level descriptor. That is, students ‘should be working within complex, unpredictable and normally specialised fields demanding innovative work which involves exploring the current limits of knowledge’.
Choosing Your Topic
You have great flexibility in your choice of topic.
Choose something that you are interested in, that will help your future career plans and that is achievable.
However, it is necessary to note: Given that the Capstone Project is a compulsory module for many master’s programmes at the Business School, you will have to choose a topic within your programme area. Failure to present a suitable project will mean that you will not graduate with your specialism. Your Programme Leader and Project Supervisor will give you advice regarding the suitability of your proposed project and topic choice.
