HWSC3001 Assessment Brief
Module Name: HWSC3001- Academic Writing Skills for Success 1
Word Count: 1500
Submission Date:
Component Details
You will write a 1500-word individual assignment on one of the following suggested topics; when choosing your topic consider your interests and consider an area that you want to learn more about.
- The importance of hand hygiene in healthcare
- The impact of social media on young people’s health
Once you have selected your topic it can help to turn it into a research question. This will be followed by a reflection on your learning journey using a pre-defined reflective model. You are required to find two reading materials (e.g. academic journal articles, books or book chapters, reliable websites, or reports) that relate to your chosen topic. These readings will help you find evidence you can trust, compare ideas, and develop your own perspective.
Assignment Overview
Part 1: Searching for credible sources
In this section you should do the following:
(a) Explain step-by-step how you searched for your two academic sources. You may want to consider the following:

- What key words or search filters helped you?
- How did you refine your search to get better results?
- Did you face any difficulties whilst searching for the sources?
- Include a screenshot of your final search.
- Include a screenshot of your chosen sources in the results list.
(b) Show how you know that the two sources are credible (trustworthy and appropriate for topic)? You may want to consider the following:
- Who wrote it? Is the author qualified or an expert?
- Where is it from? Is it published by a journal, university, or national organisation?
- What evidence is used? Is there data, statistics, practice examples, expert opinions, or research study?
(c) Explain how each source is relevant to your chosen topic. You may want to consider the following:
- How will each source help you to answer the research question on your chosen topic?
Part 2: Summary of key information
