Discussion Topic
Felicity was asked to work abroad for a year by her employer. While Felicity was excited by the opportunity, she was keen to ensure that her expensive luxury car was kept safe while she was away. Felicity visited the offices of “Guard Garage”, a company specializing in secure long-term vehicle storage.
At the offices, Felicity spoke to Harry, a sales representative. They agreed Felicity would pay £3,000 to store her car for the year. Harry gave Felicity a printed contract which Felicity signed although she did not read it carefully. Two days later, Felicity drove her car to Guard Garage’s secure premises for storage.

Harry gave Felicity a printed contract which Felicity signed although she did not read it carefully. Two days later, Felicity drove her car to Guard Garage’s secure premises for storage.
When Felicity complained, Harry pointed out Clause 23 in the contract which she signed, which states that “Guard Garage is not liable for any injury suffered on their premises, howsoever caused.” Regarding the car, Harry showed Felicity a sign in the secure garage that stated “Guard Garage does not accept liability for any damage to vehicles caused by extreme weather conditions”.
